*Juo create interior artwork for Newcastle Health Centre: Joanne and design partner Jessamy Kelly recently completed a commisison for the New Croft Sexual Health Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne. The glass artwork, 'LightScape', separates the reception and the waiting room, allowing privacy for the clients in the waiting area; yet allowing light throughout the space and creating visual impact for the setting. The design was inspired by the light play over an abstracted landscape, with undulating curves that represent a panorama of sky, land and water.

*British Glass in Washington DC: Joanne travelled to Washington DC in May to take part in the 10th anniversary of the renowned U.S. art exhibition 'Artomatic', with a selection of creatives from the North East of England, showing her own work and Juo's wall pieces. The trip, sponsored by Sunderland City Council as part of their friendship agreement with the US capital city was a great success, with many pieces bought by American art collectors. http://www.artomatic.org/

*Modern and Contemporary Glass Auction at Bonhams: In June one of Joanne's pieces was selected for the prestigious glass auction at Bonhams of New Bond Steet, London, and was sold to a private collector.

*Juo are Prize Winners!: Joanne and Jessamy are delighted to have been awarded 'Best use of Glass in Retail and Interior' at the Pearsons Prize awards 2008. They won the award for the Juo sculptural wall piece 'Coastal Glacial' (right), a one'off piece produced for Newcastle Building Society's new site at the Cobalt Business Park. www.pearsonsprize.com

*Juo Artwork Commissioned for Harbin Museum, China: Juo have been commissioned by Sunderland City Council to produce a unique glass artwork for Harbin Museum in China. The wall piece, entitled 'Wearside Migration' (right) was inspired by the sunset and sunrise over the silhouetted bridges of Sunderland. The hand-painted migrating birds represent the journey east to China.

Recent Publications: Joanne's work has recently been featured in some new publications including the Cohesion Directory and ‘North East Glass’, written by Peter Davies, leader of the Glass and Ceramics Department at the University of Sunderland.
